Off the Black or Juno

I just finished watching the movie "Off The Black" starring Nick Nolte. I started to watch it about 3:00am in hopes that it would help me fall asleep. Well it didn't help at all. As a matter of fact it not only kept me awake it woke me up. At about 5:00 in the morning I not only felt awake but ready to start a new day.

I know it won't last as we all need some sleep. But it really got me wondering on what makes a movie "great" and what makes a movie "good". After visiting my favorite review site http://www.rottentomatoes.com I noticed it had only gotten a rating of 68%. Then after reading the negative reviews I thought that I had seen a different movie then them.

The talk about movies more about the art. When I watch a movie I look to be entertained. I look for a good story line, with good actors. I look for an EDGE that this movie has that I haven't seen in another movie. This movie accomplished all those for me, but for 32% of the people on my favorite review site it didn't do the same. Why?

I tried to compare it to another movie and the first movie that popped into my head was "Juno". It was an emotional slow paced movie. The only difference I could find Juno was it didn't have a quirky, comedic main actor. But it didn't need it. This movie reminded me a lot about real life.

Maybe someday someone will be able to explain to me why this movie although made in 2006 didn't become big. I also noticed it cares the rating of R (Restricted). That may be why it slipped through the cracks. But with no swearing, gore, horror, or blood I don't know how it got it's rating. It's almost as if the world was against this movie.

Are Caffeine Pills Safe?

Usually I am not the sort of guy to try any pills unless they are necessary. In many cases I wouldn't take pills that are necessary. I don't like taking anything that may have some sort of addictive nature to it. That's even the reason why I don't drink Coffee.

My friend has been pushing me to try them. They give him the energy he needs to workout throughout the day. I have never really found the need to get extra stimulation. However my friend claims that it does help him.

So I decided to do a little research. All the things that I was worried about seem to be true. They do have an addictive nature. Apparently I could expect headaches and irritability. I'm already pretty irritable. Far more irritable then I should be.

There is also the cost. It does only cost $8.95 for 100 pills. It's pretty cheap. But I also don't like spending/wasting money on things I don't have too. But for some reason I am still interested in them. At least to try them. I hope I can overcome this want because it goes against a lot of thing I believe in.
